CCEH is entering a new phase of growth, which will strengthen and expand our ability to serve those experiencing homelessness with the safe spaces they need, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We invite you to join us in continuing to build a community where every person has a safe, decent and affordable place to live.
The Safe Spaces 3-year campaign will allow CCEH to:
- Purchase the property where our current Resource Center and offices are located. The North Main Street location is ideal for our guests – on a bus route and in close proximity to vital services downtown and to the Friendly Kitchen.
- Build an accessory building in the back of that property for use as a “low barrier” emergency winter shelter that will serve any individual in need.
- Manage that Concord Winter Shelter annually from December through March, so that people struggling with homelessness in Concord with no other options can come in out of the cold.
- Ensure sufficient operating funds to maintain all of our programs.
The Safe Spaces campaign will provide a single place to bring all elements of our mission together. These goals are aligned with the City of Concord’s Plan to End Homelessness.
Lew Feldstein, former President of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and Chair of the Safe Spaces campaign, says:
“I am honored to lead this effort that is so vital to the Concord community. Not only will the Safe Spaces campaign provide a critically needed safety net in winter, but it will enable CCEH to continue its broader work to provide permanent housing and services that END homelessness.”
